Power Plant Material Handling

Regional Energy Provider, Power & Energy | 2022

Project Overview

About This Project

OWARI Engineering designed and installed a comprehensive material handling system for a 500MW coal-fired power plant. The project included 2.5 km of heavy-duty belt conveyors with Bando fire-retardant belts, heavy-duty impact rollers and support structures, and Faraone safety platforms for elevated maintenance access. The system was designed for 24/7 continuous operation with automated monitoring and predictive maintenance capabilities.

The Challenge

The power plant's existing coal handling system was experiencing frequent belt failures and roller seizures, causing unplanned downtime that cost millions in lost generation capacity. Maintenance crews lacked safe access to elevated conveyor sections, leading to safety concerns and delayed repairs.

Our Solution

We designed a robust material handling system featuring 2.5 km of heavy-duty belt conveyors with Bando fire-retardant and heat-resistant belts, heavy-duty impact rollers at all loading points, and comprehensive Faraone safety platforms for safe maintenance access at all elevated sections. Automated monitoring systems were integrated for predictive maintenance.
